
During the 76th Republic Day Celebration at SKUAST Jammu, Prof. B. N. Tripathi, the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, proudly unfurled the National Flag, embodying the spirit of unity and patriotism that defines India. This momentous occasion signifies the country’s commitment to democratic values and the sacrifices made by its brave citizens. This day marks a significant milestone in India’s history, as India adopted its constitution and transitioned from being a British dominion to becoming a sovereign republic. As SKUAST Jammu celebrates this milestone, it reinforces its dedication to nurturing young minds and fostering a sense of national pride. In addition to paying homage to the Father of the Nation with floral tributes, Prof. Tripathi addressed the university’s staff, reflecting on the sacrifices of freedom fighters and highlighting the Constitution of India as the guiding light in our governance. He said that Republic Day in India is a poignant celebration that serves as a dual reminder of the nation’s remarkable journey to independence and democracy, while also honoring its rich cultural heritage. The theme for Republic Day 2025, “Swarnim Bharat: Virasat aur Vikas,” which translates to “Golden India: Heritage and Progress,” beautifully encapsulates the essence of this celebration. It highlights India’s commitment to preserving its cultural legacy while embracing progress and development.
He emphasized India’s stature as the world’s largest and most vibrant democracy, attributing this success to the principles of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity enshrined in the Constitution. Prof. Tripathi underscored the pivotal role of agriculture in India’s transformation from dependency to self-sufficiency and export prowess, recognizing the global applause for India’s agricultural achievements.
He commended the collective efforts of teaching and non-teaching staff in elevating SKUAST Jammu as a leading institution in the Union Territory.
He emphasized that the University is working on different fronts such as education development, research portfolio, extension outreach programmes, IPR portfolio, entrepreneurship development programs etc. Further, he mentioned that 150 crore infrastructure development projects are being implemented in the University and recently, University has successfully conducted four days National Agriculture Summit cum Kisan Mela, two industry academia meetings, appointed two Professor of Practice. While highlighting the achievements of the University, Prof Tripathi said that projects worth 232 crores funded by different agencies have been implemented with an objective to develop human resource and achieve robust agriculture growth involving various stakeholders. He added that the University has been granted 5 patents and 3 copyrights.
Prof. Tripathi emphasized that SKUAST-Jammu stands as a multi-disciplinary institution committed to continuous growth and development. The university strives to enhance its academic infrastructure, broaden student amenities, and strengthen academics, research, and community engagement, particularly in serving the farming community.
Prof. Tripathi said that University is marching ahead with the mission to be one of the best-performing State Agricultural Universities in the country. He informed that the University has fully initiated the NEP 2020 guidelines and intend to make it a multidisciplinary University. Further, he said that the NCC air wing and Radio Kisan Jammu has started functioning in the University. Republic Day Celebration was managed by Prof. Sudhakar Dwivedi, Dean Student Welfare.
Earlier, the national event started with garlanding ‘Father of Nation’ Mahatma Gandhi followed by the national anthem. Cultural programme was also organized to commemorate the auspicious festival of the nation. Prof. Hema Tripathi, Madam Vice-Chancellor, all the statutory officers of the University, Head of the Divisions, Faculty members, non-teaching staff and students attended the Republic Day celebrations.
