NEW DELHI, October 16, 2024—Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Shri Devender Yadav said that the BJP was trying to emulate Kejriwal in the freebee culture to influence the voters before the Delhi Assembly elections without having any concrete plans for the welfare of the people and development of the Capital. He said that the BJP leaders were making hollow promises without any genuine intention to improve the quality of people’s lives, checking soaring prices of essential commodities like vegetables, fruits, edible oil and pulses, solving unemployment and improving the dilapidated public utility services. He said that both the Central and Kejriwal Governments have failed to ensure the safety and security of women, and the BJP’s announcement of giving Rs 2100 monthly pension to women was just another vote-catching gimmick.
Shri Devender Yadav asked the BJP leaders what was their concrete plans to clear the Rs 5088 crore debt trap in which the Kejriwal Government had pushed the Capital into, as there was a 1.7 per cent increase in the expenses of the Delhi Government.
Shri Devender Yadav said that both AAP and BJP leaders had wasted the past 10 years in making charges and counter charges without doing any work for improving the city’s infrastructure and the welfare of the people. He said that BJP should focus on improving the Capital, and not in making hollow freebee announcements, which it will not be able to fulfill under the present stressful financial condition of the Delhi Government, which has been allowing the power distribution companies to fleece the consumers in the name of various surcharges.
Shri Devender Yadav said that the Modi Government took no initiate to check the air and garbage pollution in Delhi, though it has been running a nation-wide Swachh Bharat campaign, which should have begun in the national Capital.
