Mumbai, Oct 12 (UNI) The BSE Sensex on Monday rose by 231 pts to 40,741.16 following gains in Energy, FMCG, Finance, Industrials and Telecom stocks.
The Nifty of National Stock Exchange too advanced by 61.45 pts to 11,975.65.
The Sensex registered intra days high and low at 40,905.49 and 40,696.69 pts respectively.
The Nifty registered intra days high and low at 12,022.05 and 11,962.80 respectively.
The Mid Cap fell by 0.11 pc while Small Cap was up by 0.09 pc.
In 30 scrips, 20 advanced while 10 declined.
The gainers were ITC by 3.81 pc to Rs 174.25, SBI by 2.50 pc to Rs 203.15, Powergrid by 2.28 pc to Rs 161.50,Kotak Bank by 2.13 pc to Rs 1348.15 and Infosys by 1.58 pc to Rs 1125.05.
The losers were ONGC by 1.07 pc to Rs 69.60, Bajaj Auto by 0.94 pc to Rs 3029.45, Tata Steel by 0.81 pc to Rs 366.75, Ultracemco by 0.76 pc to Rs 4265.15.
