78 pc of daily new Covid cases contributed by 10 states/UT

New Delhi, Nov 28 (UNI) A total of 41,322 new confirmed Covid cases were registered in the past 24 hours in the country, taking India’s active caseload to 4,54,940, of which the contribution to the total positive cases was 4.87 per cent.

Ten states/UTs accounted for 78.35 per cent of the 485 case fatalities reported in the past 24 hours with Delhi reporting the highest of 98 deaths. Maharashtra saw 85 fatalities followed by West Bengal with 46 deaths, an official release here said.

Nearly 70 per cent of the daily new cases were contributed by eight states/UT of Maharashtra, Delhi, Kerala, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Chhattisgarh.

Maharashtra again led the tally with 6,185 new Covid cases. Delhi was next with 5,482 cases, while Kerala followed with 3,966 new cases.
Tests per million population has crossed the 1 lakh mark on Friday. India’s tests per million population stood at 100,159.7.

With 11,57,605 tests conducted in the past 24 hours, as many as 13,82,20,354 have been conducted in 2,161 testing labs in the country, including 1,175 Government laboratories and 986 private laboratories.

While 23 states/UTs had better tests per million population than the national average, 13 had lower tests per million population than national average.

Total recovered cases in India are87.59 lakhs (8,759,969).The national recovery rate stands at 93.68% today.

Of the 41,452 recoveries registered in the past 24 hours, 76.55 per cent of the new recovered cases were observed to be concentrated in 10 states/UTs.

Delhi has reported the maximum single day recoveries with 5,937 newly discharged cases, folowed by 4,544 recoveries in Kerala and 4,089 in Maharashtra.

Of the 485 case fatalities reported, Delhi with 98 deaths reported the maximum new fatalities. Maharashtra saw a fatality count of 85 followed by West Bengal with 46 deaths.
