With 4971 new cases in the last 24 hours, the total case tally in the district has surged to 3,85,068, an official said on Tuesday. The district also witnessed 26 more deaths, mounting the total number of deaths to 6,733. The mortality rate stood at 1.75 per cent, he added. So far, 3,20,820 patients have recuperated from the infection, which took the recovery rate to 83.32 per cent. There are 57,515 active cases in the district at present, the official said. In neighboring Palghar district, the COVID-19 case count has gone up to 59,696 while the death toll stood at 1,261, he said.
