Amarinder virtually launches Rs 134.18 cr dev works under Smart City project for Sultanpur Lodhi

Kapurthala, Feb 22 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh has initiated development works worth Rs 134.18 crore under “Smart city ” project for holy city Sultanpur Lodhi which will provide a big push to strengthen the basic infrastructure and road connectivity to further facilitate the pilgrims across the globe.

The Punjab government would spent Rs 271 crore under smart city project in Sultanpur Lodhi. During a function held at District Administrative Complex here on Monday, MLA Navtej Singh Cheema, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Rahul Chaba, District Youth Congress president Sanjeev Khullar and other officials were present on the occasion of launching these projects online by the Chief Minister.

Under Smart City project Kapurthala-Sultanpur Lodhi via Fatudhinga road to be made 4 lane at a cost of Rs 77.1 crore, widening of Dadwindi-Sultanpur Lodhi road with Rs 26.66 crore besides construction of parks and open spaces along the banks of holy Kali Bein with Rs 26.09 crore, construction of parks at Mori Mahula, Central Park and Jwala ji at a cost of Rs 2.3 crore. Apart from that the fire control facility to be set up at Sultanpur Lodhi with latest technology at a cost of Rs 2.03 crore.

Notably, the Sultanpur Lodhi, despite its small population included under the smart city project on the special request of the Punjab Government to mark the 550th Parkash Purab of Guru Nanak Dev ji.

Under this, the city would witness artificial intelligence implementation for security concerns besides CCTVs and Integrated command and control centre.

Terming it a historic day for the pilgrims, MLA Navtej Singh Cheema thanked Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh and said, “with the celebration of 550th Parkash Purab this tiny city comes at the international tourist circuit “.

It may be recalled that the Punjab Government had included the historic town in connection with the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev ji under the Smart City project.

On November 30, last year, which Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh laid the foundation stone of Rs 40 crore projects which includes new administrative complex, smart schools, STPs etc.
