Assam CM recommends NIA probe into killing of Assamese youth in Mizoram


Guwahati, Nov 3 (UNI) The Assam government has asked for NIA investigation into the death of an Assamese youth in Mizoram, allegedly kidnapped by miscreants from the bordering state.

Assam Forest and Excise Minister Parimal Suklabaidya, who visited the victim’s residence yesterday, informed over Twitter today that Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has already recommended NIA probe into the whole incident and border disputes with Mizoram.

He said the chief minister is pursuing the matter as top priority and a permanent solution can be expected soon. Suklabaidya, while offering his condolences to the bereaved family, also said an ex gratia will be paid by the state government.

The minister also visited the border area at Lailapur last night, along with top officials, and urged the people to maintain peace. The victim, Intaz Ali, was allegedly kidnapped by miscreants from Mizoram and later killed yesterday.

His body was handed over to the family today.
