BRO-made 44 bridges across 7 states, UTs dedicated to nation

New Delhi, Oct 12 (UNI) Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday dedicated to the nation 44 bridges made by Border Roads Organisation (BRO) across seven states and Union Territories through video-conferencing.
The foundation stone for Nechiphu Tunnel on road to Tawang was also laid during the inauguration ceremony.
‘‘Dedicating to the nation 44 bridges constructed by Border Roads Organisation via video conferencing. Do watch!,’’ Mr Singh said in a tweet.
‘‘With inauguration of these bridges and tunnel, it is a great record in itself. I hope, we will begin a new era for connectivity and development in these states and UTs,’’ the Office of Defence Minister said in a tweet.
‘‘You must be aware about the situation along the norther and eastern border areas. Earlier Pakistan and now China, its like the conflict is being created with a mission. We have a 7000-km boundary with these two countries, where tension always persits,’’ his office said in another tweet.
At the inauguration ceremony, Chief of Defence Staff Gen Bipin Rawat, Army chief Gen MM Naravane and MoS Jitendra Singh were also present.
‘‘In line with the vision of Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi, 44 strategic bridges made by @BROindia & Nechiphu Tunnel will assist in the speedy movement of #ARMY & contribute to the economic growth of border areas,’’ the Ministry of Defence said in a tweet.
‘‘BRO has completed 54 of 102 bridges planned this year. 60 #BaileyBridges also made to meet immediate requirements,’’ it said.
Last week, Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the strategically important Atal Tunnel in Rohtang of Himachal Pradesh.
Then, the Defence Minister had said that the strategically important Atal Tunnel is dedicated to the armed forces protecting India’s borders and those living in the remote terrains.
