Former Union Min Dilip Ray convicted in Jharkhand Coal scam case

New Delhi, Oct 6 (UNI) A Delhi Special CBI Court on Tuesday convicted Dilip Ray, former Minister of State (coal) in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led NDA government, and others in a coal scam case pertaining to irregularities in the allocation of a Jharkhand coal block in 1999.

Investigation Agency registered a case pertains to allocation of Brahmadiha coal block in Giridih in Jharkhand to CTL in 1999.

Special Judge Bharat Parashar after hearing arguments convicted Dilip Ray for criminal conspiracy and other offences. The court further convicted two senior officials of the Ministry of Coal Pradip Kumar Banerjee and Nitya Nand Gautam, Castron Technologies Ltd (CTL) and its Director Mahendra Kumar Agarwalla and Castron Mining Ltd (CML) in the case.

After conviction, the court adjourned the matter for October 14 for hearing arguments on the quantum of sentence.
