T’gana records continuous surge in COVID-19 cases

Hyderabad, Sep 2 (UNI) Telangana reported 2,892 COVID-19 positive cases till Tuesday night pushing the cumulative caseload to 1,30,589 so far, while 10 people succumbed to the contagious virus taking the overall toll to 846.

According to a state health department bulletin on Wednesday,2,240 patients had recovered from the virus between Monday and Tuesday taking the total number of recoveries to 97,402 till date constituting a recovery rate of 74.5 per cent as against the countrywide recovery rate of 77.02 per cent.

The case mortality rate in the state stood at 0.64 per cent while the countrywide mortality rate was 1.76 per cent, the bulletin said.

In all,59,421 COVID-19 tests were conducted during the 24 hours, while the results of 2,255 swab samples are pending.

Since the outbreak of the pandemic, the authorities had so far conducted 14,83,267 COVID-19 tests out of which 1,30,589 had tested positive for the virus, while 97,402 patients had recovered.

The number of recorded cases in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation limits continued to remain higher compared to other districts with 477 cases registered on Tuesday followed by Ranga Reddy (234), Medchal (192), Nalgonda (174), Karimnagar (152), Khammam (128), Warangal-Urban (116), Nizamabad (110), Siddipet and Suryapet 108 each and Jagtial (102).
