WMTPA, Pune’s delegation meets FM Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi

Pune, Feb 21 (UNI) Rallying against the oppressive terms, provisions and complicated computer system in the Goods and Services Tax (GST) imposed by the central government, a delegation of representatives of the Western Maharashtra Tax Practitioners’ Association from Pune, representing the All India Recommendation Committee, recently met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman and Union Minister of State for Finance Anurag Thakur to discuss their demands in New Delhi.
During the meeting, the delegation conveyed their grievances to the Finance Minister.
Along with Ms Sitharaman and Mr Thakur, the delegation met MPs Supriya Sule, Amol Kolhe, Navneet Rana, Ramcharan Bohra, Vinay Sahastrabuddhe, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and all political leaders and requested the Centre to focus on the issue.
The delegation included AIRC chairman Narendra Sonawane, chief coordinator CA Swapnil Munot, WMTPA president Vilas Aherkar and former president Sharad Suryavanshi.
Mr Sonawane said that the delegation pointed out to the Ministers that honest and small entrepreneurs have been suffering a lot due to implementation of the GST.
When the delegation pointed out total 76 errors in GST to the Finance Ministry, Ms Sitharaman assured to take a right decision in this regard.
“A few days ago, tax practitioners across the country staged a peaceful protest against the provisions of the GST. The GST Act was enacted in 2017. According to the new tax structure, a penalty of Rs 10,000 per month is levied for non-return. Tax advisors, traders, entrepreneurs and chartered accountants are demanding a change in the structure of the penalty, time to comply with the law, and simplification of the implementation of the law,” said CA Munot.
