The Congress leaders want Rahul Gandhi to take charge as President, said Pilot

Reacting over the controversial issue raging among congress party regarding the election of new Congress chief, Sachin Pilot, the former deputy CM of Rajasthan said on Sunday that most of the party workers would like to see Rahul Gandhi to step up and take the charge as the new party president.

“Mrs Gandhi and Rahul ji have shown what it means to sacrifice for the greater good of the people and the party. Its now time to build consensus and consolidate. Our future is stronger when we’re united. Most Congress workers would like to see Rahul ji take over and lead the party,” in a tweet said Pilot.

Pilot’s remarks come ahead of the meeting of Congress Working Committee which is scheduled to be held on Monday in New Delhi, where the committee is expected to discuss over the party’s leadership matter.

The grand old Congress party is at present facing a leadership issue after the 23 Congress leaders wrote a letter, asking for a complete overhaul of the organisation.

The leaders who wrote a letter include former chief ministers, some of the Members of Parliament and members of the CWC, the party’s highest decision making body.

Earlier this month, these leaders in the letter suggested the changes from top to bottom; the most controversial issue that has been seen in the suggestion about leadership change. The leaders stated also that the Congress has been on the decline for the last 6 years but has not yet learned its lesson.
