30.970 kg of heroin seized from Punjab border, Pakistani smuggler nabbed

Jalandhar, Apr 7 (UNI) Border Security Force (BSF) seized 30.970 kg of contraband, suspected to be heroin, from the Ferozepur sector.
A spokesperson for the Punjab Frontier’s Headquarter here said on Wednesday that the troops in the area of responsibility of 136 Bn of the BSF in Ferozepur seized three packets of contraband suspected to be heroin weighing 1.160 kg along with a 12 feet long plastic pipe.
The alert BSF troops observed suspicious activities of the miscreants near the border security fence and challenged them following which they ran towards the Pakistani Territory. During a search conducted this morning, the BSF seized 1.160 kg of heroin contained in three packets.
In another incident, the BSF troops acting on a specific intelligence input, the BSF planned an operation and executed it well in the area of responsibility of 14 Bn of the BSF in Ferozepur sector. The troops nabbed a Pakistani smuggler and seized 30 packets of contraband suspected to be heroin weighing 29.810 kg from his possession. The spokesperson said that two smartphones were also from his possession.
Value of the heroin seized in both the incidents is said to be over Rs 154 crore in the international market.
The BSF during the current calendar year till date has seized 155.708 kg of heroin valuing over Rs 778 crore in the international market. The BSF had apprehended 13 Pakistani nationals including the one nabbed today whereas two had been liquidated so far.
