New Delhi, Feb 1 : Hailing the Budget 2022, Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran said that it has continued the trend towards more productive expenditure. Chandrasekaran said that the Budget is consistent with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of making India Atmanirbhar: a digital superpower, a sustainability leader and a healthy nation. "This statement of intent is clearly supported by a plan for the future, and backed by allocations—specifically in the areas of infrastructure, digital transition, planet resilience, education and health—to support Indian ambitions," Tata Sons Chairman said. "Continuing down this path, it isn't hard to imagine India becoming a digitally-forward, sustainable global superpower by the end of this decade,” he further said.

Budget: FM announces ‘Kisan drones’ for crop assessment

New Delhi, Feb 1 : Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday made a slew of announcements in the agriculture sector, including Rs 2.37 lakh crore direct payment to 1.63 crore farmers for procurement of wheat and paddy, use of 'Kisan drones' for crop assessment, besides to promote 'chemical free' natural farming across the country. Presenting the Union Budget 2022-23 in the Lok Sabha, Sitharaman said, "The procurement of wheat in Rabi 2021-22 and the estimated procurement of paddy in Kharif 2021-22, will cover 1208 lakh metric tonnes of wheat and paddy from 163 lakh farmers, and 2.37 lakh crore direct payment of MSP value to their accounts."

Sitharaman again carries tradition “Bahi-Khata” instead of briefcase

New Delhi, Feb 1 (UNI) Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman again carried "Bahi-Khata", a traditional ledger of records, instead of a colonial briefcase to present General Budget in Parliament on Monday. The colonial legacy of carrying the Budget papers in briefcase was dropped last year by Ms Sitharaman when she, for the first time in the history of Independent India, carried the Budget in a "Bahi-Khata", wrapped in a red-cloth.

Healthcare, infra at centre of FY22 Budget to strengthen economic recovery

New Delhi, Feb 1(UNI) To sustain the "V- shaped" recovery of the pandemic-hit economy and give growth a further boost, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday unspooled a slew of schemes in the Budget for financial year 2021-22 in line with the Narendra Modi government's Atmanirbhhar Bharat campaign.

Health top priority for Budget 2021

New Delhi, Dec 19 (UNI) Health and investment in the sector are high on the government's priority list as it is seeking big ideas and inputs for Budget 2021-22 and help the pandemic- hit economy emerge as the engine of global growth, indicated Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. The minister on Saturday held her 10th Pre-Budget consultations with leading economists in connection with the forthcoming Budget that she has said to be a "never before" Budget.
