New Delhi, May 7 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Atomic Energy and Space Dr Jitendra Singh on Friday said that Bhabha Atomic Centre and Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) have been supplementing country’s fight against the pandemic by providing COVID related equipment and technology. In an online review meeting with senior officials of the Department, Dr Singh said that development of protocol for sterilization of PPE kits using Cobalt source has the potential for re-use of PPE kits and development of N-99 masks using HEPA filter technology.

COVID-19 crisis: Ex-Defence doctors to provide online consultation

New Delhi, May 7 (UNI) The Ministry of Defence on Friday informed that ex-Defence doctors will now provide online consultation on ‘e-Sanjeevani OPD’ to all citizens of the country. Announcing the decision,the MoD said that the Defence Secretary Dr Ajay Kumar and Director General of Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) Surgeon Vice Admiral Rajat Datta addressed the veterans who have come forward to offer their services, through videoconferencing on May 7.

India records 4,187 deaths, 4,01,078 cases in single day

New Delhi, May 8 (UNI) India recorded 4,187 fatalities over the 24 hours pushing the cumulative death toll to 2,38,270, marking the worst daily increase since the start of the outbreak, the Ministry of Health said on Saturday. The number of confirmed cases has increased by 4,01,078 to 2,18,92,676 within the same period of time. Of these, over 37 lakh cases are currently active, while more than 17.93 million people have recovered since the start of the pandemic.

‘Approach Upper Yamuna River Board,’ SC tells DJB on water shortage...

New Delhi, May 7 (UNI) The Supreme Court on Friday told the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) to approach the Upper Yamuna River Board on its petition regarding the acute shortage of water supply from Haryana and Punjab. A three-judge Bench of Justice Nageswara Rao, Justice Bopanna and Justice Ramasubramanian said that the apex court gives liberty to the petitioner to approach Upper Yamuna River Board and the DJB shall consider representation to be made expeditiously.

COVID-19: India records 4.12 infections, 3,980 deaths in 24 hrs

New Delhi, May 6 (UNI) India recorded the highest single-day COVID-19 infections and deaths with 4,12,262 people testing positive and 3,980 patients losing their lives in the past 24 hours, taking the cumulative figures to 2,10,77,410 and 23,01,68, respectively, Health Ministry data showed on Thursday. A total of patients infected with the novel coronavirus were 3,29,113 discharged during the same time period, pushing the total recoveries to 1,72,80,844. India has a total of 35,66,398 active cases at the moment.

Over 75 lakh Covid vaccine doses still available with states/UTs: Health...

New Delhi, May 4 (UNI) A total of 75,24,903 Covid vaccine doses are still available with the states and Union Territories, the Ministry of Health said on Tuesday. The Centre has so far provided 16,69,97,410 vaccine doses to the states free of cost, the Ministry's statement said. As per data available this morning, of this, the total consumption including wastage is 15,94,75,507 doses.

New Delhi, Apr 4 (UNI) BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia on Tuesday approached the Supreme Court seeking a CBI probe into the incidents of violence reported from West Bengal after the election results were announced.
