Islamabad, Sep 14 : At least 54 people were killed and six others injured in heavy monsoon rain-triggered flash floods in the last 24 hours in Pakistan, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said.

Islamabad, July 27 : The Pakistani rupee continued to slide against the dollar on Wednesday, hitting another low of Rs236 in the interbank market. According to the Forex Association of Pakistan (FAP), the local currency fell Rs3.77 to Rs236.70 from Tuesday’s close of Rs232.93 at 11:30am. FAP chairman Malik Bostan highlighted that there was a need to increase dollar inflows as it would stabilise the rupee.

Islamabad, July 20 (UNI/Xinhua) Pakistan reported 592 new Covid-19 cases and seven more deaths during the last 24 hours, the country's ministry of health said on Wednesday. The tally of infected people increased to 1,547,795 with the new cases, according to the data released by the ministry.

Islamabad, July 19 : Around 23 people have died and 26 others are still missing after a boat carrying members of the wedding party capsized in the Indus River, The News reported on Tuesday. Locals were able to rescue 45 people while rescue operations were still under way to find the missing people. Officials said that the boat capsized as it was overload. Several women and children were among the dead.

Islamabad, July 8 : The government will take a decision to remove Chairman Committee on Missing Persons Javed Iqbal before the end of the month as seven-member cabinet sub-committee on missing persons will have its extra-ordinary sitting on Thursday next (July 14) soon after Eid holidays to deliberate about serious allegations of female harassment against Justice ® Javed Iqbal, The News reported on Friday.

Karachi, Jan 30 : A gas leakage explosion took place in Karachi's Ghazi Goth in Pakistan injuring at least six people, the media reported on Sunday. "The blast was caused by gas leakage from a water tank in a house in Sachal police jurisdiction," police said. According to police, "the explosion happened owing to pressure of gas during cleaning of a water tank," ARY News reported. "A man who entered in the water tank for cleaning ignited a match stick, which resulted in explosion," police officials said

New Delhi, Dec 21 : The Indian government on Tuesday said it has asked YouTube and its Department of Telecom (DoT) to order Internet service providers to block 20 channels and two websites operating from Pakistan for spreading anti-India propaganda.

Kabul, Dec 21 : Taliban forces have destroyed a barbed wire erected by Pakistani forces on the Durand line which divides Afghanistan and Pakistan, the Afghan media reported on Tuesday. The incident took place in Gushta district in the eastern province of Nangarhar and the Taliban brought the destroyed barbed wire into Afghanistan.
