UP Budget focuses on young entrepreneurs

Lucknow, Feb 22 (UNI) Keeping the all-round development of the state in the focus, the Yogi-led BJP Government in Uttar Pradesh in its annual budget on Monday has made a provision of Rs 250 crore for the ODOP scheme, one of the flagship schemes of CM Yogi.

With an aim to provide skillful training to the traditional artisans of urban and rural areas and to keep them updated with the latest technology, the government had earlier launched the ‘Vishwakarma Shram Samman Yojana’. In this regard, a budgetary provision of Rs 30 crore has been proposed by the government.

Similarly, to promote the art of clay artisans of the state, a budget of Rs 10 crore has been proposed for the ‘Mati Kala Board’. Also, a budget provision of Rs 100 crore is given for the Chief Minister Youth Self-Employment Scheme.

The textile industry has vital importance in the economy of Uttar Pradesh. After agriculture, the textile sector provides the highest employment opportunities. Similarly, the last budget of the Yogi-led BJP government, before the state goes to polls early next year, aims to provide employment to 25,000 people through the textile industry. The provision of providing subsidized power to power loom weavers is also considered in the budget.

Under Chief Minister Gramodyog Rozgar Yojana, interest-free loans up to Rs 10 lakh for general women and reserved category beneficiaries and 4 percent annual interest for male beneficiaries of a general category are targeted to be made available through banks.
The Government has also taken the decision to revive the assets of the closed spinning mills of UP State Spinning Company and set up industrial parks/locations/clusters in PPP mode. For this, a provision of 100 crores has been proposed in the Annual Budget 2021-22 of Uttar Pradesh.
