Colombia’s COVID-19 cases reach 877,683

Bogota, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) — The number of COVID-19 infections in Colombia rose to 877,683 in the past 24 hours after tests detected 7,875 new cases, the Health Ministry said . The death toll climbed to 27,180 after 163 more fatalities were reported, said the ministry. A total of 773,973 patients have so far recovered, it added. Health Minister Fernando Ruiz said Wednesday that the vaccine that Colombia may acquire through the COVAX, a global initiative aimed at ensuring COVID-19 vaccine availability, will also be applied to people who have had the disease.
