
SKUAST-Jammu kicks off 3rd Batch of DAESI Diploma Programme for Input Dealers
The State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI), Jammu, under the Directorate of Extension SKUAST-Jammu, and the leadership of Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. B.N. Tripathi, kicks off the 3rd Batch of the One-Year Diploma in Agricultural Extension Services for Input Dealers (DAESI) on July 24, 2025. This program is organized in collaboration with the National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE), Hyderabad. A total of 40 input dealers have enrolled in this batch. The program includes both theory sessions and field visits.
The event was attended by Sh. Arvinder Singh Reen, State Nodal Officer (ATMA) and Director Agriculture, Jammu, as the Chief Guest. In his inaugural address he advised against the reckless use of agrochemicals and highlighted the lack of awareness regarding their environmental and health risks. He emphasized that DAESI-trained input dealers can help fill this knowledge gap.
In his address, Dr. Amrish Vaid, Director SAMETI & Director Extension, highlighted the importance of the DAESI Diploma in India, particularly in Jammu and Kashmir. He noted that trained agri-input dealers play a key role in providing informed and responsible advice to farmers. Dr. Vaid also pointed out the need for ethical behavior and loyalty to the farming profession, beyond mere business goals. Dr. Hema Tripathi, Associate Director Extension, urged input dealers to act as para-extension workers, strengthening their relationships with farmers and improving the spread of scientific agricultural methods. Dr. Vijay Kumar Sharma, Deputy Director Extension and other faculty members were also present. Mrs. Puja Nayyar, Deputy Director (SAMETI-Jammu) and Coordinator of the DAESI Programme, conducted the proceedings. Dr. Pawan Kumar Sharma, Professor and Head Division of AE&ABM at SKUAST-Jammu, delivered the vote of thanks.
