In a spirited effort to raise awareness about drug-free living and promote well-being, a Walkathon was held on August 7, 2025, at the R.S. Pura campus of SKUAST-Jammu. The event, aligned with the nationwide Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, saw enthusiastic participation from faculty and students of the Faculties of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry and Dairy Technology.
Spearheaded under the visionary leadership of Prof. B. N. Tripathi, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, the programme brought together key academic leaders including Dr. Rajesh Katoch, Dr. Jaswinder Soodan, Dr. Sudhakar Dwivedi, Dr. P. K. Rai, and Dr. Dibyendu Chakraborty. Their presence added momentum to the initiative, emphasizing the role of educational institutions in driving social change.
Organized with the joint efforts of NSS wings and IQAC coordinators, the event aimed to sensitize youth about the value of a healthy lifestyle and the dangers of substance abuse. The Walkathon concluded with an anti-drug pledge led by Dr. Rajesh Katoch, reinforcing the university’s resolve to fight drug addiction. Active contributions from Dr. Aditi Lal Koul, Dr. Kawardeep Kour, Dr. Shilpa Sood, Dr. Vikas Mahajan, and Dr. J. S. Sasan ensured the programme’s success.
