Leh, Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Shri Kavinder Gupta, has assured residents and travelers that the administration will soon take measures to keep airline fares in check, especially during harsh winters, so passengers are not forced to pay unreasonable amounts. He emphasized that the UT government is determined to give a major push to Ladakh’s tourism sector by strengthening connectivity and offering better facilities.
In a meeting with Ladakh MP Mohmad Haneefa Jan and members of the All Ladakh Tour Operators Association (ALTOA), the LG highlighted the need to open up new opportunities in Kargil. Plans include promoting cultural events like the Suru Festival and exploring private aircraft services to ease travel for tourists. He also urged tour operators to work together with flexibility to ensure tourism growth while safeguarding the interests of locals.
During the discussions, MP Jan flagged concerns regarding the launch of 19-seater aircrafts under the UDAAN scheme, upgrading healthcare facilities in Kargil, and enhancing advanced medical services in both Leh and Kargil hospitals.
ALTOA representatives also pressed for a simplified registration system for tour operators, clarity in LRC procedures, and financial support for aggressive tourism campaigns.
Responding to the issues, LG Kavinder Gupta assured that the administration will coordinate with relevant ministries to resolve them. He reiterated the commitment to affordable connectivity, sustainable tourism, and overall welfare of the people of Ladakh.
