
Jammu, With continuous rainfall raising water levels in Tawi, Chenab and adjoining streams, J&K DGP Shri Nalin Prabhat, IPS visited several flood-affected areas of Jammu district. Accompanied by DIG JSK Range Shiv Kumar, SSP Jammu and SP Rural, he personally assessed the situation and ongoing rescue efforts.
ЁЯЪи In his visit to Mangu Chak, Makwal, Miran Sahib and Domana, the DGP interacted with police officers, SHOs, SDPOs, SDRF teams and police jawans engaged in relief operations. He praised their dedication in extending timely help to the public.
ЁЯМК At Akhnoor, he inspected sensitive points like Jio Pota Ghat, Steel Bridge and Fort area. A meeting was held at SDPO office Akhnoor where officers were directed to work in full coordination to safeguard residents. DIG BSF Sunderbani Akhnoor Range Varinder Dutta also joined the review.
ЁЯЪБ A major relief came when 47 civilians trapped in the Chenab River near Garkhal Akhnoor were successfully rescued and airlifted in a joint operation by J&K Police and BSF. The DGP applauded SSP Jammu, SP Rural and the teams involved for their swift and brave response that saved precious lives. MLA Akhnoor Shri Mohan Bhagat also expressed gratitude for the timely action.
ЁЯЫбя╕П Later, the DGP along with DIG JSK visited Gujjar Nagar, Hari Ki Pauri, Gorakhnagar and Bagh-e-Bahu to review the rising water level of Tawi. He instructed officials to remain on high alert, ensure readiness for rescue operations and maintain close coordination. The relentless efforts of police and rescue teams were appreciated for their commitment during these challenging conditions.
