Shramdaan by SKUAST-Jammu Fraternity on Ekta Diwas
As part of the nationwide celebration of Ekta Diwas, Sher-e-Kashmir University of
Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu observed Ekta Diwas by organizing a
massive Shramdaan (cleanliness and restoration drive) at its Main Campus, Chatha.
Led by Prof. B. N. Tripathi, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, the Shramdaan event was
organised to mark the 150 th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Ji, paying
tribute to his vision of unity, integrity, and national integration.
The Hon’ble Vice Chancellor himself participated and contributed to the cleanliness
drive inspiring all to work collectively in the spirit of unity and resilience. All
statutory officers, teaching and non-teaching staff, students, casual workers and NSS
volunteers enthusiastically took part, working together to restore and beautify the
campus, which had suffered extensive damage during the devastating flash floods of
August 2025.
The initiative formed part of SKUAST-Jammu’s ongoing efforts to rebuild its
infrastructure and restore normalcy after the floods, which caused losses estimated at
₹80 crore. The collective effort symbolized resilience, teamwork, and a renewed
commitment toward rebuilding the university environment and restoring its vibrancy.
Recognizing the university’s efforts, the Government of Jammu and Kashmir and the
Central Government have extended their full support for recovery and rehabilitation.
Relief funds are expected to be released soon to accelerate restoration works and
provide much-needed assistance to the institution.
On the occasion of Ekta Diwas, the SKUAST-Jammu fraternity reaffirmed its
dedication to the ideals of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Ji, demonstrating through
collective action that unity and shared purpose can overcome even the greatest
challenges.
