NEW DELHI, — Delhi Congress President Shri Devender Yadav has strongly condemned the arrest of AAP councillor Joginder Singh for illegal gambling, stating it once again exposes the deep-rooted nexus between AAP and BJP when it comes to protecting corrupt leaders.
He criticised the BJP Delhi unit’s response, saying, “Instead of calling for his removal from office, the BJP is merely demanding his party expulsion — a move aimed at misleading the public.” Shri Yadav also raised concerns over a BJP councillor from Bijwasan, reportedly involved in extortion linked to a construction case, yet facing no disciplinary action from his party.
Highlighting a consistent pattern, Shri Yadav said this incident is just another proof of AAP’s deteriorating ethical standards. “The arrest of Joginder Singh from Swarup Nagar raises serious questions about the kind of individuals the AAP is promoting,” he said. He accused the AAP of welcoming criminals, extortionists, and anti-social elements into its fold since its inception.
According to Shri Yadav, both AAP and BJP have become indistinguishable when it comes to corruption. He added that since gaining control of the Delhi Government and the Municipal Corporation, AAP leaders have indulged in unchecked misuse of power, leading to mass resignations by honest members disillusioned with the party’s direction.
He further cited the liquor scam as a symbol of AAP’s moral collapse — mentioning Arvind Kejriwal’s resignation and arrest, and the legal proceedings involving Manish Sisodia, Satyendar Jain, Somnath Bharti, Jitender Singh Tomar, and Sandeep Singh. “In the past 11 years of AAP’s rule, barely any minister or MLA has remained untouched by allegations or criminal cases,” he concluded.
