NEW DELHI, July 8, 2025–Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) president Shri Devender Yadav hit out at the BJP, saying that after ‘Shauchmahal’ and ‘Phoolkumari Niwas’, the era of luxury of the BJP leaders has now reached ‘Modimahal’.
Taking a sharp jibe at BJP national president J. P. Nadda’s digital inauguration of three new district offices in Mehrauli, Outer Delhi and West Delhi, Shri Devender Yadav said that when people are waiting for basic facilities like schools, Government hospitals with proper equipments, pothole-free roads, flyovers and other civic facilities, and when the JJ Clusters are being bulldozed to drive out the poor and migrant labour from Delhi, the BJP leaders are only concerned about constructing grand buildings and facilities for themselves at the expense of the public. He asked, “Where did the money come from for constructing these plush office buildings? “, referring to the new BJP offices as “Modimahal.”
Shri Devender Yadav said that former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of the Aam Aadmi Party laid the foundation of the ‘royal culture’ by building a ‘Sheesh Mahal’ for himself, which is now being furthered by the BJP leaders even more grandiously. He said that while Delhiites are grappling with waterlogging, power cuts, water shortage and the toxic Yamuna river, BJP leaders are decorating their air-conditioned palaces with costly accoutrements.
“9 Shamnath Marg, which was earlier the residence of the Speaker, is still being shown as the residence of the present Speaker on the Delhi Government website. If that is not currently the residence of the Speaker, then for whom is it being prepared”, “Devendra Yadav asked. He demanded that there should be an open debate in the Assembly on the waste of public money.

Shri Devender Yadav described the inauguration of three district offices in 150 days by the BJP president as a “shameless display of royal loot”, adding that “it showed that even the top leadership of the BJP had no objection to the loot of the tax payers’ money”.
Shri Yadav had termed the Z-category security given to Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva as ‘mahapapap’ and described Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s official residence as ‘ Phoolkumari Niwas’ where 14 ACs, 5 TVs, 14 CCTVs, chandeliers etc. have been installed for Rs 59 lakh.
He also drew a distinction between what the BJP says and does when it comes to spending Rs 95 lakh on Speaker Vijender Gupta’s ‘Shauchmahal ‘and a total of Rs 2.35 crore spent on other facilities.
“Is this change?”, asked Shri Devender Yadav. He wondered whether the Rekha Gupta Government was for the people or for the enjoyment of power for the BJP leadersship? He appealed to the people of Delhi to question this ‘shoot-boot ‘culture and raise their voices against corruption and injustice.
