Gutka, other banned items worth Rs 10 lakh seized

Grand Bazaar police has seized Gutka and other banned items worth Rs.10 lakh here on Friday night.
Police said on Saturday that, acting on a tip off, they raided a book stall and seized 12 bags full of Gutka and other banned items.
On interrogation, the shop owner Mahendran confessed that he had hidden more items in a godown in Vellalar street too.
Following this, police raided the godown and seized 43 bags full of banned items.
The total worth of the seized items is Rs.10 lakh.
Police sealed the godown and arrested Mahendran.
It may be noted that Mahendran was arrested in 2017 on charges of hoarding banned items like Gutka.
Meanwhile, police arrested two persons last evening on charges of supplying Ganja.
Ten days ago, police arrested one John Kishore and seized 750 grams of Ganja from him.
He told the police that he used to get the contraband from one Gokul of Mudaliarpet and Yashwanth hailing from Andhra Pradesh.
On information that the duo were hiding in Tamil Nadu area, police arrested them and seized 2 kilograms of Ganja which they procured from Karnataka.
