Sensex up 41.75 pts

Mumbai, May 14 (UNI) Snapping a losing streak of last two sessions, the BSE Sensex on Friday rose marginally by 41.75 pts to close at 48,732.55 in a volatile trade as fresh buying was witnessed in FMCG, Capital Goods and Consumer Durable stocks.

While, the Nifty fell by 18.70 pts to 14,677.80.

The Sensex opened higher by 208 pts at 48,898.99, which remained days high. During the day it was dropped nearly 217 pts to 48,473.43, days low, before closing at 48,732.55, up by 41.75 pts from its previous close.

The Sensex registered days high and low at 48,898.93 and 48,473.43 pts respectively.

The Nifty recorded days high and low at 14,749.65 and 14,597.90 pts respectively.

The sectoral indices like FMCG, Capital Goods and Consumer Durable stocks lifted the market.

However, selling in Metal, Realty, Auto, Utilities and Materials capped from further gains, broker said. In scrips, Asian Paints, ITC, Nestle India, L& T and Hind Unilever went up while IndusInd Bank, M& M, SBI and NTPC dropped.

The Mid Cap declined by 1.14 pc and Small Cap by 1.18 pc. In 30 scrips, 10 advanced while 20 declined.
