NEW DELHI, September 4, 2025 — Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Shri Devender Yadav addressed over 10,000 Railway workers at the National Federation of Indian Railwaymen (NFIR) convention held at Karnail Singh Stadium.
Shri Yadav reaffirmed Congress’ support for Railway employees in their fight against privatization, outsourcing of recruitment, and the push for restoring the old pension system. “Railway workers are the backbone of India’s 1.3 million-strong Railways, yet their institution faces unprecedented challenges due to the government’s policies,” he said.
Highlighting the need for justice, Shri Yadav urged the Central Government to immediately compensate families of thousands of railway employees who lost their lives during the Covid-19 pandemic. He criticized contractual recruitment and privatization efforts that, he said, undermine the Railways’ reliability for millions of commuters.
Shri Yadav also emphasized the Congress party’s commitment to the upliftment of poor, SC/ST, and backward communities, echoing the vision of party leaders Shri Mallikarjun Kharge and Shri Rahul Gandhi, who sent congratulations for the convention’s success.
He called on all railway employees to unite and raise their voices against policies that weaken the Railways and reaffirmed Congress’ continued support for their legitimate demands.
