COVID-19 cases continue to spike in Telangana; Tally mounts to 1,35,884

Hyderabad, Sep 4 (UNI) Without any let-up, the spike in COVID-19 cases continue to rise in Telangana with the state reporting 2,478 positive cases till Thursday night pushing the cumulative caseload to 1,35,884 so far.

Ten patients had succumbed to the contagious virus in the last 24 hours taking the COVID-19 death toll 886 with a case fatality rate of 0.63 as against the national mortality rate of 1,74 per cent, a state health department bulletin said on Friday.

Between Wednesday and Thursday,2011 patients had recovered from the virus crossing the one -lakh mark of recoveries with 1,02,024 patients recovering so far constituting a recovery rate of 75 per cent, while the countrywide recovery rate was 77.14 per cent.

The number of active cases in the state stood at 32,994, the bulletin said adding that of the 62,543 tests conducted in the last 24 hours, results of 2,274 swab samples were awaited.

Overall,16,05,521 COVID-19 tests conducted since the outbreak of the pandemic out of which 1,35,884 patients had tested positive, while 1,02,024 people had recovered.

The districts which registered more than 100 positive cases during the last 24 hours are Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation limits (247), Medchal (190), Ranga Reddy (171), Nalgonda (135) and Karimnagar (129).
