Delhi: 4,235 test +ve, 29 die

New Delhi, Sep 13 (UNI) The national capital Delhi recorded a significant spike of 4,235 fresh COVID-19 cases during the past 24 hours, bringing the case tally to 2,18,304, while 29 people lost their lives in the same period.

The fresh demises have taken the death toll to 4,744, government’s COVID bulletin said. On the recovery front, 3,403 people were cured/discharged since Saturday.

As per the official data, the active cases now stand at 28,812, while the number of recovered persons stand at 1,84,748. The recovery rate has reached 84.62 per cent, the state health bulletin said.

This is the fifth consecutive day, when the national capital recorded more than 4,000 cases. This recent spurt in cases, according to Delhi government, has been due to the enhancement of daily testing of samples. As many as 56,656 tests were conducted in the past 24 hours.

The total number of containment zones have also increased and reached 1,488, as on Sunday. The government has also opened testing camps at several places and done away with the mandatory prescription by a doctor, required earlier.
