Eighteen LS MPs test positive for COVID-19

New Delhi, Sep 14 (UNI) A total of 18 Lok Sabha Members of Parliament (MPs) have tested positive for COVID-19 after they went through the test mandatory for attending the truncated monsoon session, official sources said here on Monday. Among the infected, 13 are from Bharatiya Janata Party, two from Yuvajana Sramika Rythu (YSR) Congress Party while one each from Shiv Sena, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP).

The corona test of the Lok Sabha members was conducted on September 13-14 in Parliament House.

The members who tested positive from the BJP are Meenakshi Lekhi, Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma, Rodmal Nagar, Satya Pal Singh, Dr Ram Shankar Katheria, Prataprao Patil, Pradan Barua, Bidyut Baran Mahato, Janardan Singh Sigriwal, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, Sukanta Majumdar, Sukhbir Singh Jaunpuria, Anant Kumar Hegde.

YSR Congress N Reddappa Reddy and G Madhavi, Shiv Sena’s Pratap Rao Jadhav, G Selvam of DMK and Hanuman Beniwal of RLP were the others found infected.

The confirmatory report of 16 MPs arrived on September 13 while BJP MP Rodmal Nagar’s test report came on September 14, official sources added.
