Himachal Pradesh’s Una reports 2 Omicron cases

Himachal Pradesh’s Una has reported two Omicron cases in last 24 hours, a health official said here on Tuesday.

The finding of two Omicron patients in the Una district on Monday has created a scare statewide and authorities have been alerted by the state government in this regard.

Since Una falls on the borders of Punjab, the Una district authorities have been told to take proper care.

Earlier, one such patient was found in Mandi, and later on, she died of the virus.

An official spokesman told UNI today that while one of the people had come to France, the other had returned from Dubai and were under Home isolation since their arrival at their homes.

Dr. Raman Sharma, CMO, Una said that on January 6, samples of both were taken for Omicron’s investigation and sent for genome sequencing and their reports came positive on Monday.

The condition of both patients was fine, confirmed the CMO.
Earlier, a case has also come to the notice in Mandi. On the other hand, 2446 people became corona positive in the state within 24 hours, while six people died after 72 days.

On other hand, apart from three administrative officers of MS Office of Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), 11 personnel including CEO, Superintendent, Data Entry Operator, Class IV employee have come positive.

There is a stir in the hospital due to the positive arrival of these workers.

The Corona Virus has wreaked havoc in the state’s Mother and Child Kamala Nehru Hospital on Monday. By evening, 26 people had come positive in the hospital. Out of these, a maximum of ten staff nurses have turned out to be corona infected. Apart from eight female patients, five sanitation workers and three doctors have also come positive. All the personnel has been sent on home isolation, confirmed, Dr. Ravindra Mokta, MS, Kamla Nehru Hospital.

Meanwhile, the chances of the opening of summer schools in the state even after January 26 are remote. As the cases of corona infection increase day by day, the education department has started making a proposal to increase the holidays.
After January 26, there is a preparation to close the educational institutions for two more weeks. A decision in this regard is likely to be taken by the end of this week.

The Directorate of Higher Education has prepared a proposal of two options and sent it to the government for decision at their end.
After January 26, under the first option, all summer schools have been recommended to be closed till February 6.

An official spokesman said that under the second option, it was proposed to call the students of classes IX to XII for regular classes in schools from January 27.
The official sources said that a final decision in this respect would be taken after a meeting between the higher officers of the Departments of Health and Education before sending their proposal to the Chief Minister through the Education Minister to decide the next action.
