India logs lowest daily nCoV cases in 4 mths

New Delhi, Jul 27 : India reported less than 30,000 daily coronavirus infections after a gap of almost four months (132 days), Union Health Ministry data stated on Tuesday.
As per the union health ministry’s daily bulleting, the country reported 29,689 fresh COVID cases in the last 24 hours that pushed India’s overall Covid-19 tally to 3,14,40,951, while the death toll climbed to 4,21,382 with 415 daily fatalities.

The number of active cases in the country also fell below 4,00,000 after 124 days, declining to 3,98,100 and now comprise of only 1.27 per cent of the total infections.

India’s daily positivity rate continues to decline. The weekly positivity rate is 2.33per cent and the daily rate is 1.73 per cent. With a decline in Covid cases, the recovery rate of the country has climbed to 97.39 per cent.

The ministry also shared that India so far has vaccinated over 44 crore people against Coronavirus. According to the data, at an average of 38.26 lakh doses per day, around 9.94 crore doses were administered till Sunday, against the vaccination target of 13.5 crore doses in July.

However, concern over the slow pace of vaccination is still looming large among the states and masses, which has further slowed down considerably in the month of July. To meet the target of 13.5 crores, about 60 lakh daily doses would have to be administered, a number that has been attained only twice this month.

Official data shows that the weekly doses administered had come down from a high of 4.5 crores in the week ending June 26 to 2.8 crores in the week ending July 25. However, this is still significantly higher than the weekly average of 1.51 crore doses administered during the 27 weeks until July 23.
