India records 86,052 new cases, 1,141 deaths

New Delhi, Sep 25 (UNI) India recorded 86,052 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours taking the tally to 58,18,571, as per Health Ministry data on Friday. The pandemic deaths have now reached 92,290 after 1,141 more people lost their lives to the contagion during the period.

Cured/discharged cases since Thursday were 81,177, while the recovery rate has slightly improved further to 81.74 per cent.
Total patients cured till date now stand at 47,56,165.

The active case-load on the country which was reducing since a couple of days, witnessed a little increase on Friday and presently the number stands at 9,70,116. In terms of percentage, the active cases are 16.67 per cent, recovered at 81.74 per cent, and the deaths 1.59 per cent.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), as many as 14,92,409 samples were tested in the past 24 hours, taking the total cumulative samples tested since the beginning of the pandemic till Sunday to 6,89,28,440. Maharashtra continues to remain the worst affected state with maximum case count as well as in terms of maximum active cases of the pandemic.

Globally, United States continues to remain the most-infected, followed by India and Brazil.
