India’s cumulative vaccination coverage crosses 18 cr

New Delhi, May 15(UNI) The cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country has exceeded 18 crore, the Union Health Ministry said on Saturday.

As per as per the provisional report this morning, a total of 18,04,57,579 vaccine doses have been administered through 26,02,435 sessions. These include 96,27,650 Health Care Workers (HCWs) who have taken the first dose and 66,22,040 who have taken the second dose.

A total of 1,43,65,871 Front Line workers have received have taken their first dose, while , 81,49,613 of them got their second jabs , the Health Ministry’s statement said.

The 18-45 age group had 42,58,756 beneficiaries for the first dose.



As per the data, in the age group of 45-60, as many as 5,68,05,772 and 87,56,313 have got their first and second doses respectively.

In the 60 plus age group, 5,43,17,646 vaccination were administered the first dose while 1,75,53,918 got their second dose.

Meanwhile, the country’s infection caseload spiked to 2.43 crore cases after 3.26 lakh cases were recorded in over 24 hours, the Ministry’s data indicated.

Up to 3,980 people have lost their lives during the same time frame, taking the overall death toll to 2,66,207.
