ITBP performed commendable jobs in securing border & in pandemic: Deswal

New Delhi, Dec 29 (UNI) The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Director General SS Deswal on Tuesday said that Force has made remarkable contributions in the security and service of the countrymen and the nation in the past year.

Addressing the jawans, through a open letter, the Himlayan Border guarding force Chief said that the they were proud of the fact that without caring for own, the ITBP personnel played an unique and very important role in Covid19 management and helped the nation in the pandemic mitigation and control at every stage.

Referring to the commendable job that force has performed during covid pandemic, Mr Deswal said that ITBP built and managed the country’s first 1000-bedded quarantine center in Chhawla in January and successfully quarantined the citizens of the country and other foreign nationals and also fabricated and distributed face masks and PPE kits in March and April when it was most needed.

“Since July, we successfully operated the world’s largest 10,000-bed Covid Care Center at Sardar Patel Covid Care Center and Hospital, Radha Swami Beas, Chhatarpur, New Delhi providing free treatment to thousands of people and the hospital is still continuing to function”, Mr Deswal said.
Expressing gratitude and pride ITBP doctors and para medical staff who served the countrymen even under challenging circumstances with high morale and devotion to duty, he said that force continuously treated the ITBP and other force personnel and police personnel, retired personnel and their families of Delhi NCR at Greater Noida Referral Hospital and the process has been continued.

On the security front, ITBP DG said that, two command headquarters of the force have started functioning from Chandigarh and Guwahati this year. Along with protecting the borders of the country, ITBP is also playing a vital role in other assigned security duties, for which I congratulate all the officers and jawans, he added.

He also mentioned the force’s leading role in the Fit India Mission this year and has conducted successful public awareness campaigns like Mission 200 km and Mission 100 km. Showing great resolve and commitment, we have also successfully completed two mountain expeditions – Mt Leo Pargil and Mt Bhagirathi II – this year. We have been able to keep our training going on even in the challenging corona era by practicing strict Covid19 protocols. I am happy that ITBP is the fittest among security forces of the nation and we have to ensure this in the future too.

He exhorted to all troopers to keep fit and healthy along with family members, he wished best wishes for the new year.
