J&K Admn directs Senior Docs to frequently round COVID patient wards

Jammu, May 17 (UNI) In the wake of rising deaths due to COVID, Jammu and Kashmir Administration on Monday directed the senior faculty to frequently round the wards where Corona patients are undergoing the treatment.
In a letter dashed to the Principal, Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, Financial Commissioner, Jammu and Kashmir Health and Medical Education Department, Atal Dulloo, have directed to increase presence of senior faculty by making frequent rounds of wards.
“We were receiving reports that senior doctors were not going to wards,” Mr Dulloo on Monday evening here told UNI.
He said, “We have advised them to monitor the situation so that mortality rate can be reduced.”
However, as per the letter assessed by the UNI, Mr Dulloo have told the Principal, GMC Jammu, Dr Shashi Sudan Sharma, “as you are aware that mortality rate in COVID positive patients has increased and there is a need for reducing the same which requires immediate corrective measures.”
“It is desirable that the senior Faculty members of the concerned departments of your institution be directed to increase their presence by making frequent rounds of wards, where the COVID positive patients are admitted, so that such patients are properly looked after and treated, which will help to in reducing the mortality also,” read the letter.
