New Delhi, Nov 29 (UNI) Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain on Sunday informed that the availability of beds for COVID patients has increased in Delhi and out of the total beds, more than 55 per cent COVID beds are now vacant.
Speaking of ICU beds, the minister informed that their vacancy has now increased to 1,524 from 518 during the same time period.
He said that the severity of the pandemic has started to come down since November 7.
During October end and the beginning of November, the number of cases in the national capital had begun to swell up as the city began to witness the third wave of the pandemic.
With cases rapidly rising the centre and the state government agencies started preparing for the situation and increased the number of COVID beds and ICU beds in view of handling the situation. Delhi government worked to add more than 650 beds, while the centre arranged for more than 1,000 beds.
‘Bed vacancy for covid patients in Delhi hospitals increased to 10411 from 7,973 since 11 Nov (more than 55 pc covid beds are now vacant). During the same period, ICU bed vacancy increased to 1,524 from 518. Since Nov 7 covid severity is coming down,’ Jain said taking to micro-blogging site Twitter.
