No death in ITBP run Sardar Patel Covid Care Centre at Chhatarpur in New Delhi

New Delhi, Sep 13 (UNI) No death case has been reported in the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) run Sardar Patel Covid Care Centre at Chhatarpur in New Delhi which has treated over 2454 patients right from 17 days infant to 78 year old successfully.

Currently, more than 1386 patients who are undergoing treatment at this center. The numbers have gone up substantially in recent days as it appears to be preferred destination for patients needing quarantine. So far, no Covid-19 death has been reported at the centre till date, the ITBP said here on Sunday.

IG and Medical Superintendent, Referral Hospital ITBP Dr DC Dimri said that the SPCCC has been treating biggest numbers of patients among all Hospital and DG of the Force SS Deswal personally guided the staffs to provide best facilities for the center.

“He had been instrumental in providing all the logistic support to the dedicated team of ITBP such as doctors, nurses, paramedics and security personnel, equipment as well as budget”, Dr Dimri further said.

ITBP provided more than 800 Medical Personnel includes Specialist Doctors, medical officers, paramedics, pharmacists, and more than 600 security personnel to run 10,000 bedded SPCCC round the clock.

This center was inaugurated on June 27 by the Union Home Minister Amit Shah who personally visited the center to oversee the arrangements. He later on, appreciated the efforts put in by the ITBP and started taking patients from July 5, since then, the total patients admitted at this facilities are 3,921.

Currently, SPCCC has two segments- CCC (Covid Care Centre) and DCHC (Dedicated Covid Health Care Wards). The critical cases are treated with specialized care such as holistic therapy, yoga sessions. The psychologists the and stress counselors from the Force conduct regular courses for the patients for their mental well being to overcome monotony and isolation. Proper nutrition is being ensured for the patients.

The healthy menu has been prepared by the ITBP dietitian with provision for appropriate diet for old as well as infants. People from all age groups and all strata of society are being treated here.

The Himalayan border guarding force has been at the forefront in the fight against COVID since January this year and took to the task in running the quarantine centre at Chhawla, which was instrumental in taking care of more than 1200 Indians as well as foreigners from nine countries, brought into India, to ascertain and ensure the logistic, administrative, security, contingency plan as well as an intensive training module to the doctors as well as the security personnel to motivate them to prepare to take on the prestigious work.
