Puducherry logs 71 fresh Covid-19 cases in 24 hrs

As many as 71 people tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours taking the infection tally to 1,23,078 in Puducherry, the health department stated on Wednesday.

With no fatality being reported during the period, the death toll remained at 1,809.

According to the Covid-19 status for Wednesday released by the health department, of the 2,254 swab tests taken yesterday, 71 tested positive for the virus. While 42 new cases were reported in Puducherry region, 15 were logged in Karaikal, one in Yanam region and 13 in Mahe.

Of the 76 persons who were discharged in the last 24 hours, 41 belonged to Puducherry region, 16 from Karaikal and 19 from Mahe region.

Currently, 117 persons are being treated in Puducherry region, 22 each in Karaikal and Mahe regions and two in Yanam. Another 597 positive cases are under home isolation in all the four regions of the union territory.

So far, 1,23,078 persons are infected by the virus of which 1,20,509 were treated and discharged and 1809 died leaving 760 active cases here.

The test positivity rate in the UT is 3.15 per cent, case fatality rate 1.47 per cent and recovery rate 97.91 per cent.



As many as 7,88,964 persons including health care workers, frontline workers and general pubic were so far vaccinated against Covid in the union territory.
