Punjab registers 1,588 fresh COVID cases, 54 deaths

Chandigarh, Sep 26 (UNI) As many as 1,588 fresh cases of COVID-19 and 54 deaths were reported in Punjab on Saturday, taking the infection tally to 1,08,684 and the death toll to 3,188.
According to the Health bulletin, the fresh deaths included 10 from SAS Nagar district, eight in Jalandhar, six each in Amritsar and Ludhiana, five in Patiala, four in Sangrur, three in Pathankot, two each in Barnala and Gurdaspur and one death each in Faridkot, Fazilka, Ferozepur, Kapurthala, Mansa, Moga, Muktsar and Ropar districts.
It further said that 195 fresh cases were reported from Jalandhar district, 172 each from Ludhiana and Patiala, 153 from SAS Nagar, 147 from Gurdaspur, 132 from Amritsar, 80 from Pathankot, 79 from Kapurthala, 78 from Bathinda, 49 from Ropar and 43 from Hoshiarpur.
Ferozepur recorded 41 patients, while 35 cases each were reported from Faridkot and Sangrur, 34 from Mansa, 32 from Muktsar, 22 from Fatehgarh Sahib, 21 from Moga, 20 each from Barnala and SBS Nagar, 16 from Tarn Taran and 12 new cases surfaced in Fazilka district.
It was stated that of 3,188 fatalities in the state so far, 708 deaths have been registered in Ludhiana district, 365 in Jalandhar, 342 in Amritsar, 312 in Patiala, 171 in SAS Nagar, 141 in Sangrur, 137 in Hoshiarpur, 134 in Kapurthala, 127 in Gurdaspur, 106 in Bathinda, 94 in Ferozepur and 77 in Fatehgarh Sahib.
Ropar registered 67 deaths, followed by 65 in Moga, 64 in Pathankot, 59 in Tarn Taran, 42 in Faridkot, 40 in SBS Nagar, 39 in Barnala, 36 in Muktsar, 34 in Fazilka and 28 deaths in Mansa district.
According to the latest COVID figures, Ludhiana leads with 17,326 cases, followed by Jalandhar 12,533, Patiala 11,193, SAS Nagar 9,823, Amritsar 9,377, Bathinda 5,597, Gurdaspur 5,659, Hoshiarpur 4,239, Ferozepur 3,603, Sangrur 3,423, Pathankot 3,388, Kapurthala 3,028, Faridkot 2,620, Muktsar 2,387, Fazilka 2,173, Moga 2,164, Ropar 1,956, Fatehgarh Sahib 1,821, Barnala 1,779, Tarn Taran 1,562, Mansa 1,521 and SBS Nagar 1,512.
The bulletin further stated that there were 19,483 active patients in the state. Among them, 422 patients were on oxygen support and 68 on ventilators. It said 86,013 patients have been cured of the virus in the state so far.
Out of the total 17,40,183 samples taken in the state till now, 1,08,684 have tested positive, added the bulletin.
