NEW DELHI, August 2, 2025 – Delhi Congress president Devender Yadav has called on party workers and Delhi residents to join a major protest outside the Delhi Assembly on Monday, August 4, starting at 11 AM from Chandgiram Akhara (near Trauma Center). The protest will highlight key public grievances including mass slum demolitions, rising crime, unchecked drug trade, unfulfilled ₹2,500 monthly support to women, and persistent waterlogging in the city.
Yadav accused the BJP-led Delhi government of ignoring its election promises and failing to take action on core issues troubling the common people. He alleged that Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s early assurances on law and order and waterlogging have remained only on paper, and the promised monthly aid to women, announced with fanfare on International Women’s Day, never materialized.
On the issue of slum demolition, Yadav pointed out that around 15,000 people have been left homeless across more than 3,000 clusters, with no alternate housing provided so far. He highlighted that Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, visited affected areas and raised the matter in Parliament, pressuring the government to pause further demolitions.
Yadav further slammed the BJP for making hollow commitments, including PM Narendra Modi’s claims to replace slums with flats and ensure financial aid for women, none of which have translated into action. “Delhi Congress will not stay silent. We will stand up for every citizen who has been deceived, displaced, or denied their rights,” he said.
