NEW DELHI,— Delhi Congress President Shri Devender Yadav has raised serious concerns about a growing drug delivery network allegedly operating through online shopping platforms, food delivery apps, and courier services. According to Yadav, illegal substances are being concealed inside ordinary items like clothing, shoes, sweets, and gift boxes—making it nearly impossible for law enforcement to detect. He criticized the BJP-led government and Delhi Police for turning a blind eye to the issue and warned that, if not swiftly addressed, the drug mafia could become deeply entrenched in the Capital.
Highlighting Congress’ efforts, Yadav mentioned the party’s anti-narcotics awareness campaign, which began in Badli Assembly on May 26 and later extended to all 70 constituencies under the slogan ‘Congress Ka Yudh – Nashe Aur Apradh Ke Virudh’. He expressed disappointment that this initiative failed to prompt action from the Rekha Gupta-led administration. He pointed to recent incidents—including the brutal killing of a 22-year-old tea vendor in Seemapuri and the seizure of narcotics worth ₹100 crore involving five foreign nationals—as clear indicators that Delhi is rapidly becoming a stronghold for organized crime and drugs.
Yadav further emphasized the deteriorating law-and-order situation, stating that the authorities appear helpless while the drug trade thrives across markets, slums, unauthorized colonies, and even places of worship. He warned that this unchecked drug flow is not only destroying young lives but also pulling unemployed youth into the grip of crime.
He blamed the prevailing chaos on the complacency of the government and law enforcement, stating that despite regular drug busts worth crores, the larger network—spanning across nations like Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and the UK—remains active. These syndicates, he claimed, are using call center-based apps to reach consumers directly, while authorities fail to keep up with their operations.
Yadav reaffirmed that the Delhi Congress is committed to fighting the rise in criminal activity and narcotics, with dedicated teams working at the district, block, and booth levels. He concluded by calling out the “Triple Engine” BJP Government for its ineffective leadership, saying it is mimicking the mismanagement model of Arvind Kejriwal, whose 11-year rule has caused deep-rooted harm to the Capital’s governance and public safety.
