New Delhi,— Delhi Congress President Shri Devender Yadav strongly criticized the BJP-led Rekha Gupta administration, accusing it of misusing state machinery by removing hoardings featuring leaders from other parties at Kavad camps. He called this act a “disrespectful misuse of power” during a religious event meant to serve devotees.
Shri Yadav condemned what he described as “petty politics” being played during the holy Kavad Yatra, emphasizing that such camps are meant solely for the comfort and service of Kanwariyas, not political rivalry.
He also pointed out the inadequate arrangements made by the current BJP government for Kanwariyas this year. He noted that financial caps on Kavad camp expenses had hurt the quality of service, unlike during the Congress-led Sheila Dikshit government, which, he said, fully supported such spiritual initiatives by covering all logistical expenses.
Shri Yadav inaugurated a Kavad camp at Karnal Bypass near Sanjay Gandhi Transport Nagar, located in his Badli constituency. Organized by Jan Sewa Sangathan, Samaipur Badli, the camp provides Kanwariyas with 24/7 support including medicine, resting space, and thrice-daily bhandara (free meals).
The Congress leader offered prayers and inspected the facilities personally. Reaffirming the party’s belief in Sarvadharm Sambhav (equal respect for all religions), he encouraged Kanwariyas to maintain discipline and adhere to traffic advisories issued across the Delhi-NCR route.
Yadav concluded by highlighting that Congress-backed Kavad camps are functional throughout Delhi, committed to meeting the needs of the lakhs of devotees passing through the capital.
