New Delhi, August 9, 2025:
Delhi Congress President Shri Devender Yadav conveyed heartfelt wishes to the people of Delhi on the joyful occasion of Raksha Bandhan, highlighting its deep-rooted cultural significance. He described the festival as a sacred celebration of the enduring love and trust between brothers and sisters, marked by the ritual of tying rakhis and praying for each other’s well-being.
Yadav emphasized that the essence of Raksha Bandhan lies in the purity of relationships and unity in families. However, he also expressed concern over what he called the “politicisation” of the festival by the BJP.
Targeting BJP State President Virendra Sachdeva and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Yadav accused them of turning a pious occasion into a publicity stunt. He criticized their decision to spend the night in slum areas, alleging it to be a “photo-op strategy” that masks a hidden agenda of displacing the poor.
Calling it a “cruel irony,” Yadav warned that such visits might be a precursor to demolition drives in slum clusters, and urged the public to see through the BJP’s “scripted sympathy.”
