Jammu, November 1, 2025:
Deputy Inspector General of Police, Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range, Shiv Kumar Sharma (IPS), held a detailed review meeting to assess the ongoing security arrangements for Jhiri Mela 2025. The meeting was attended by SDPO Domana Mudassir Hussain, SHO Kahnachak Manoj Dhar, SHO Domana Varuneshwar Singh, SI Dipika Jalotra, ASI Kuljeet Singh, and other officers.
During the discussion, the DIG emphasized team coordination and proactive vigilance to ensure a safe and peaceful environment for devotees. He directed officers to strengthen checkpoints, especially in border belts and urban zones, and to stay alert during late-night hours. Officers were also instructed to curb pickpocketing, drug smuggling, and anti-social activities during the fair.
Special attention was given to the security of pilgrims, accommodation zones, and langar sites, along with traffic control, parking management, and crowd handling strategies. The DIG also stressed maintaining real-time coordination with intelligence and paramilitary agencies to share inputs promptly.Later, DIG Sharma visited the BSF posts in Kahnachak sector, where he reviewed border security measures and interacted with officers and jawans. He appreciated the BSF’s heightened alertness and instructed them to continue round-the-clock vigilance to ensure safety along the International Border during the festive period
