Elon Musk criticizing Apple and Google Gemini AI partnership over data privacy concerns

A major development in the global tech industry has sparked fresh debate after Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk publicly criticized the recently announced Apple–Google Gemini AI partnership. Musk described the deal as “unreasonable,” raising concerns over data privacy and the growing concentration of artificial intelligence power among a few technology giants.

According to reports, Apple is set to integrate Google’s Gemini AI model into its voice assistant Siri, aiming to significantly enhance its conversational abilities and overall intelligence. The move is seen as a strategic step by Apple to strengthen its position in the rapidly evolving AI race.

Reacting to the partnership, Elon Musk warned that Apple’s increasing reliance on Google’s AI technology could expose users’ sensitive data to Google’s ecosystem. He also expressed concern that allowing a handful of major corporations to control advanced AI systems could pose long-term risks to innovation, competition, and user trust.

Musk has consistently voiced opposition to what he calls AI monopolization by Big Tech companies. In the past, he has criticized organizations such as Google, OpenAI, and Microsoft for holding excessive influence over artificial intelligence development. His own AI venture, xAI, claims to focus on building “truth-seeking” artificial intelligence as an alternative approach.

As of now, Apple and Google have not issued any official response to Musk’s remarks. However, the controversy highlights a broader industry debate, making it clear that the AI race is no longer just about technological advancement, but also about privacy, transparency, and trust.
