Mumbai, October 2025: Greensole Foundation, a trailblazing social enterprise focused on environmental and social impact, hosted Sustenance 2025 at Jai Hind College, Mumbai. The event gathered policymakers, educators, corporate leaders, and innovators to discuss sustainability, philanthropy, and inclusive growth under the theme “Sustainability & Philanthropy: Building an Equitable Future.”
Founded by athletes Shriyans Bhandari and Ramesh Dhami, Greensole began by refurbishing discarded shoes and has grown to donate over eight lakh pairs annually to children across India. The foundation also champions women’s empowerment, circular economy initiatives, and environmental conservation.
The day opened with an inaugural ceremony featuring Chief Guest Shri Suresh Prabhu, along with Mrs. Uma Prabhu, Shriyans Bhandari, Ramesh Dhami, Prof. Dr. Vijay Dabholkar, and members of the Bhasin family. Ms Vineta Fernandes, Head of CSR at Greensole, welcomed attendees, followed by a cultural performance by Jai Hind College students. Shri Prabhu emphasized India’s leadership in sustainability and the importance of youth engagement in social and environmental progress.
Two insightful panel discussions highlighted practical and policy-driven solutions. The first, “Sustainability in Action: Innovations, Communities and Corporate Responsibility”, featured industry and NGO experts, moderated by Ms Manali Dhumal. The second, “Philanthropy, Policy and Global Partnerships: Driving Collective Change”, brought together leaders from environmental, animal welfare, and child development organizations, moderated by Ms Vineta Fernandes.
Shriyans Bhandari, Co-Founder of Greensole, said,
“Sustainability is about more than protecting our planet—it’s about creating opportunities and ensuring growth benefits everyone. Sustenance 2025 brings communities, corporates, and youth together to shape a fairer future.”
The event also unveiled Greensole’s eco-friendly bins, made from 50 kg of recycled multilayer plastic each, featuring lifetime waterproofing and six-month hardware warranties. These bins aim to reduce plastic waste while promoting practical sustainability.
A donation drive was organized in collaboration with Zilla Parishad Shala, Kumbhar Shiv, distributing refurbished shoes and school kits to children. Looking ahead, Greensole plans to open new women-led skill centres in Odisha, Maharashtra, Haryana, and Karnataka, empowering local communities through sustainable livelihoods and innovation.
