First Oxygen Express to start its journey for Mumbai from Visakhapatnam

New Delhi, Apr 22 (UNI) The first Oxygen Express with Liquid Medical Oxygen tankers will start its journey for Mumbai from Visakhapatnam on Thursday night, a Railway Ministry official said here.

The goods trains with tankers filled with Liquid Medical Oxygen at Visakhapatnam on board are being transported through Ro-Ro service of Railways.

Another Oxygen Express started its journey from Lucknow to Bokaro via Varanasi to fulfil the requirements of Medical Oxygen in Uttar Pradesh.
The Ministry said, for the movement of the train, a green corridor was created between Lucknow and Varanasi. The distance of 270 Kilometre was covered by the train in four hours 20 minutes with an average speed of over 62 kilometre per hour.

Following the acute shortage of Oxygen in the country which is key component in fighting with the Coronavirus disease, the Railway Ministry decided to operate the ‘Oxygen Express’ from various places to transport Oxygen as the trains is faster over long distances than road transport.
