Govt approves 9 manufacturers to set up plants to make medical devices

New Delhi, Feb 11 (UNI) The government has approved nine manufacturers under the production linked incentive (PLI) scheme to make medical devices.
With a total outlay of Rs.3,420 crore for the period 2020-21 to 2027-28, the scheme floated by the Department of Pharmaceuticals will boost domestic manufacturing and attract large investment in the medical devices sector,
The firms whose proposals have been approved are Siemens Healthcare, Allengers Medical Systems, Allengers OEM Ltd, Wipro GE Healthcare, Nipro India, Sahajanand Medical Technologies, Innvolution and Integris Healthcare.
Their applications were invited under four different target segments including “Cancer care/Radiotherapy Medical Devices”, “Radiology & Imaging Medical Devices (both ionizing & non-ionizing radiation products) and Nuclear Imaging Devices”, “Anaesthetics & Cardio-Respiratory Medical Devices including Catheters of Cardio-Respiratory Category & Renal Care Medical Devices” and “All Implants including Implantable Electronic Devices. “
